Hydroformic a technological solution for the safe transport and storage of hydrogen

OUR AIM

Hydroformic - a technology for carrying hydrogen in a safety way by
using formic acid as renewable LOHC

Hydrogen transport and storage face a significant hurdle due to its low energy density
per unit volume. This requires transporting large volumes of hydrogen to convey a
substantial amount of energy. Various strategies are being explored to address this
challenge.
A promising solution is the use of liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHCs). In this
approach, hydrogen chemically binds to the LOHC, which is stored and transported in
liquid form under ambient conditions. The LOHC can release hydrogen when needed
through a catalytic dehydrogenation reaction.
Hydroformic is an innovative technology for producing clean hydrogen from formic
acid as renewable LOHC under ambient conditions (25°C and 1 atm), utilizing a 3D
printed catalyst tailored to the dehydrogenation reaction.
